Application Process

• Due to the high volume of inquiries, we're unable to respond to questions that are already answered on this page. For additional questions about Microsoft Leap or the application process, please contact us.

General Guidance and Direction

• Check the location of your cohort; while you may be qualified, you may or may not be eligible, based on the location and residency requirements.
• You must be authorized to work in the country of your cohort location for the entire duration of the cohort.
• Confirm you are free from personal, professional, educational commitments for the entire duration of your cohort.
• Be prepared to show significant work experience in the pathway of your choice.

Tips for completing the Leap application

• Allow enough time to complete your application.
  • Complete the application process ahead of the deadline.
• Thoroughly review your application before submitting.
  • Proofread your application carefully. Once you submit your application, you will NOT be able to go back into the system.
• Review and update your LinkedIn profile; it will be viewed during the application review process. All relevant certifications, accomplishments, education, and work experience should be updated accordingly. If you do not have a LinkedIn profile, please create one and include the key components as mentioned. You may refer to How Do I Create a Good LinkedIn Profile? | LinkedIn Help as a resource.
• For all links provided in the application process, make sure that the destination (file, website, etc.) are publicly visible.

  • Current authorization to work in the United States or residency in the country location of your cohort before the start of your cohort
  • Active top secret security clearance – Reston, VA positions ONLY
  • Work experience
  • LinkedIn profile
  • Choose your pathway
  • Ensure availability during the entire scheduled cohort of your pathway
  • Gather necessary materials

Selected individuals will be invited to interview for Microsoft Leap

• The interview process will consist of two 45-minute online interviews.
• Interview questions will focus on the following areas:
  • Technical skills
  • Collaborative skills
  • Problem solving skills

A select number of people will be invited to join Microsoft Leap.
